Team

The opportunity pursued by $TRANSMACHINA$ requires a team of skilled and driven people. The technical nature of the work means that experience with software or IP ventures is a necessity in the group. In order to best meet the opportunity, an executive team including an experienced entrepreneur, an IP lawyer, a PhD in computer networking and an expert in business systems has been assembled.

Nicholas Tolley Cottrell, CEO

Nicholas grew up in Adelaide, Australia with an interest in language and culture. He completed three undergraduate degrees at Bond University in Queensland in Finance, International Business (studying French and Spanish) and IT. He then worked for a telecommunications start-up in Reykjavik, Iceland as a project manager. He then continued his education with a Master of Science in Language technology at Macquarie University, Sydney. He recently completed an MBA with distinction at Oxford University's Said Business School, while he developed $TRANSMACHINA$. Nicholas has been involved in the computational linguistics research community in both Australia and Europe. He is a member of the European Association for Machine Translation (EAMT) and regularly attends conferences and workshops, building relationships with research students and learning about leading research, trends and opportunities.

David Cottrell, CFO

David has had many successful years of international business experience in the IT industry. His first company, Retek (NASDAQ: RETK), developed and sold software solutions in the US, Canada, the UK, Japan and elsewhere in Asia. He holds an MBA from Adelaide University, and is a member of the Australian Computer Society, fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and an Associate Fellow of Australian Institute of Management.

Justin Viiret, CTO

Justin has been interested in technology since early childhood. He started his first company at age 15 with Nicholas Cottrell and after its sale has been in high demand as a consultant in online system development. He holds a degree in computer systems engineering from the University of Adelaide, Australia. He is currently completing his PhD in computer networks and brings his expertise in complex information structures to the problem of linguistic networked resources.

Christopher Dalskjaer, System Engineering

Chris has a strong interest in system development with an educational background including two years of Computer Science (Oslo, Norway), two years of Software Engineering (Brisbane, Australia), a Masters in IT Management Systems of the Swedish Royal Technical Institute. He has taken control of system design and planning at Transmachina. He is responsible for the detailed planning and design of the system architecture and database.

Elizabeth Press, VP Marketing

Elizabeth has a BA in International Relations, majoring in Economics and European Affairs from Tufts University. She has a MSc in International Economics and Business from the Stockholm School of Economics. Her thesis with the Institute of International Business was about internationalization strategies of technology-focused companies, using the digital music industry as a case study. She also has a certificate in Global Entrepreneurial Leadership from the Stanford Center for Professional Learning, which she received in conjunction with a mentorship program at Microsoft Sweden. Her professional experience includes two years of international journalism on three continents, as well as a year of strategy consulting work in Stockholm.

Adrian Jones, Legal Counsel

Adrian has had a long interest in languages and translation. He has lived in both Australia and Germany, and is proficient in German. He holds a B.Comp.Sc. and Dip.Lang (German). He holds a LL.B. (Adelaide) and MCL (Adelaide / Mannheim). Adrian is responsible for issue of intellectual property.
