Idiomatica
Idiomatica is transmachina's language processing and translation engine. The technology uses a form of "interlingual" approach to machine translation - where input text is first stored in a language-neutral structure before being translated into the destination language.
Unique blend of best practices
Our engine has been in development for several years and uses a number of unique algorithms, tools and techniques to achieve superior quality of translations. We combine these innovations with the best ideas of 30 years of machine translation research.
Gist-free technology
Our aim is to completely avoid "gisting" of translation, since we are confident that our customers prefer accuracy and quality to existing fast but low-quality translations.
Reducing confusion
In order to avoid misunderstandings during the translation process, we are developing a unique feedback plug-in that can integrate with the user to make the source text as clearly worded and structured as is humanly possible. This step is the most important in improving translation quality - and the step that it almost always overlooked by our competitors.
Push Translation
A lot of recent attention with machine translation has been to translate web pages. As a result, a lot of development attention has gone to client-side translation, where a user will request to see a foreign language document or web site in their native language. Such translations are notoriously difficult, even for human translators, because the precise meaning intended by the author is not always clear.
Our technology is intended to leverage the expertise of the original author (or someone with a specific knowledge of the document) to perform the translation. Using the feedback plug-in mentioned previously, we can achieve much higher accuracy, avoiding many mistranslations that occur in fully-automated systems.
